Description
37 Acres Remote Area Land in Arizona AZ Cochise CountyThis listing is for Arizona property for sale by owner; my father has been spending winters there but the trip from WI to AZ has become difficult for him to make.
The property may appeal to snowbirds who do not want to spend the winter in large urban locales.
It includes
37.315 acres of fenced land
in
Cochise County
, Arizona. The legal description is The Southeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section 20, Township 19 South, Range 32 East of the Gila and Salt River Base and Meridian, Cochise County, Arizona.
The property is located on Hwy 80 at the junction of East Sunrise Road, approximately 45 miles North East of Douglas on Hwy 80, 150 miles East of Tucson, 80 miles from Tombstone, and 7 1/2 miles from Rodeo, New Mexico. There is an area (approximately two acres) that is also fenced in, where my father's trailer and the well are located.
It is 1 1/2 miles from the
Coronado National Forest and the Chiricahuas Mountain Range
, and the view from the property is directly up
Horseshoe Canyon.
Blue clay is part of the land, and we've found Indian artifacts such as arrowheads (points), manos, and metates on the property. There are deer, bobcat, javelina, bear and coyotes. Also numerous quail and birds, trees, cacti and flowering shrubs.
There is a video on the New Mexico State University website by Southwest Horizons Nature Series, titled Chiricahuas: Mountain Islands in the Desert. It includes a lot of information about area rock formations and other geology, and plant, bird and animal habitats
Portal to Paradise by Alden C. Hayes is a book that might interest you, covering the area history.
There is a well on the property, but it is plugged and will need work. There is steel casing to approximately 180, and PVC from there to approximately 240. The sand plug is at approximately 190. We attempted to raise the pump, and the cable broke, leaving the pump and cable in the well. There is also a crude camper/trailer setup there.
The property is secluded. Phone lines border the property, but there are no other utilities nearby.
Utilities would be by alternative means, i.e. solar, generator, or wind.
All photographs were taken on the property.
