is very excited to offer our customers the
New Era Mine
unpatented lode mining claim located in Inyo County, California near the quaint little town of Big Pine. Surrounding the claim is untapped recreation, numerous streams and gorgeous mountain settings including Mount Whitney the tallest mountain in the continental United States. The New Era Mine main commodity was chiefly gold with a secondary in copper. The mine offers free milling gold perfect for gravity seperation. The veins and ore body at the New Era are very large sometimes over 30 feet. On the site you will find the ruins of an old milling area with concrete foundations and three adits (tunnels) to prospect. There is also a small miners hut & root cellar with an adit or (tunnel) inside. The tunnel is only 40 feet deep but kind of cool. The other adits are much deeper and look to have some very nice ore left. Access to the claim is easy off highway 395. Tinnemahaha Reservoir sits directly in front of the claim across the highway. You can access the site year round with two wheel drive vehicles.
There is a gate off highway 395 that can be closed by the new owner for more seclusion and to keep out people.
A former Au-Cu mine located in secs. 26 & 27, T10S, R34E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) SSE of Fish Springs (0.8 mile SW of the shore of Tinemaha Reservoir), in the Poverty Hills, Owens Valley. Property consisted of 12 unpatented claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in monzonite and shale. The ore body strikes N and dips 35E at a thickness of 18.29 meters. Ore involves a mineralized, decomposed dike. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 45.72 meters and comprised of a SW-trending adit, 100 feet long, to a 60 degree incline at 165 foot station. Levels are at 30, 100 and 150 feet with approximately 1,000 feet of lateral workings. Open cuts lie W of the 150 foot shaft.
Production data are found in: Norman, L.A. & Richard M. Stewart (1951).

From Big Pine, California go south on highway 395 for approx. 8.2 miles and turn right going through the green panel gate on a good dirt road. Continue on this road till reaching the large flat area and the miner cabin. You will then be on the claim.
